National Competitions
Padel is a relatively young sport with a limited, but fast growing international community. In Wales the sport is governed by Tennis Wales an arm of the the LTA who run the GB team on behalf of all the home nations.
Wales currently compete as a national side in the UK Padel 4 Nations event, in which each of the 4 Nations field ladies and mens teams in Open, o40, o50 and o60 categories.
Players representing Wales are typically competing regularly at County tournaments, LTA Graded (2/3) tournaments or UK National League. Tennis Wales are in the process of developing a player pathway to support players wishing to develop and compete at the highest level.
If you are interested in joining the Welsh squad in any age category, please contact us. Points of contact for all teams are provided in our ‘Teams’ page.

UK County Championships
South Wales field mens and ladies team at county (South Wales) level in all available age categories (Open, o40, 05, o60) at the County Championships hosted by UK Padel.
South Wales also endeavour to build relationship and offer opportunities to player to compete in friendly matches against other counties. These events offer players a competitive area to measure their level against peering across the UK in a very competitive - but friendly environment.
Our County players typically compete in the higher divisions of the UK National Padel League, Padel League, and LTA Graded competitions (2/3/4). County players will also be supporting our Welsh Open and Welsh Closed Tournaments.

South Wales Regional Tournaments
A number of welsh Regional teams (West, Central, East and Exiles) are being established during 2025, with the intent of providing a competitive environment for players from the welsh regions to test their Padel against the best from other regions. This concept builds on the success of the East vs West welsh derby held in 2024 at the Welsh Padel Centre
These events will be established in the Welsh Padel calendar to
support the development of players wishing to compete at the highest level
provide a development ground for South Wales County pair and teams
build a unified, collaborative and cohesive competitive payer base in South Wales
For players not able to compete further afield or at the County Championships themselves, the regional events will provide a regular competitive touchpoint with the best of South Wales Padel players.

LTA Graded Tournaments
The LTA structure their Tennis and Padel tournaments according to a set of ‘Grades’. A summary of the different grades for Tennis can be found here: Competition Grades | LTA. They have structure their Padel tournaments using the same systems, although due to the immaturity of the sports in the UK, not all Padel tournaments will strictly adhere to the specifications set out by the LTA. However, over the coming months, it is likely that Padel competitions will be brought in line with broader LTA governance.
Examples of LTA Graded tournaments are our own Welsh Open (Grade 3 in 2024), and the Welsh Closed (Grade 5 in 2024).
LTA Graded Tournaments are a great way to transition from fun and social Padel matches into a more competitive environment. THey’re also a fantastic way to meet players from across the county!
Tennis Wales are drawing up the schedule of Padel Graded competitions in Wales for 2025. The tournaments will be listed in our ‘Tournaments’ page as soon as they’re available. If you are happy to look further afield, the LTA provide details on their website:
LTA National League
The LTA Padel National League is the biggest padel team competition in Great Britain at the moment.
Men’s and Ladies teams are broken down into two divisions – with the top-ranked teams battling it out in Division 1. Anyone can enter a team of five players and will be placed in either division based on their entry.
Teams compete for a place in the National Finals, where they stand the chance of being crowned the national champions.
At the moment the only Welsh Teams competing in the National Padel League are the Mens and Ladies teams sponsored by the Welsh Padel Centre. This league is typically very competitive, with the best Padel players from around the country keen to show that they can make it to the finals and win the national championships.
Details on how to enter the 2025 National league will be available on the LTA Padel Competitions website in the very near future.
iPadel League
The iPadel Leagues are an alternative to the LTA National league, and is aimed at team players who want to play competitive padel against other local padel clubs and venues.
This (24/25) winter season iPadel are delivering iPadel “Club” and “Premier” Leagues to give teams more competitive matches at the right level.
The Padel leagues can offer great and competitive matches against teams of similar levels.
Details of the iPadel Leagues can be found in the iPadel Website.
The Welsh Padel Centre has sponsored teams to play in the iPadel leagues since their inception.
